An incredibly beautiful but awkward bird all at the same time. Lives in groups, very good parents. Eat all that yummy shrimp to keep their feathers all pink. They make me believe in modern dinosaurs. Beautiful picture by Audubon.
one of my neighbours had a thing about flamingoes, had them everywhere in the house and around the garden. My DH and his mate went to the pub one night, came home and moved all the flamingoes into a tree in the front lawn... we still laugh when we drive past the house now.
Too funny reading Dawn's comment! Love this print! Our FL friend asked a docent at the St Petersburg Art Museum WHY the flamigo was the FL bird since it is not indigenous to FL. She did quality that as a totally unrelated art question, altho there was a tiny flamingo in a painting and that's what got her started LOL

Gorgeous Audobon, yes. I'm a bit jealous of them getting to eat all that shrimp, tho -- my favorite seafood.

p.s. - haven't checked my email yet, but I sent you one this morning. :-)
what a neat print--flamingos are fascinating, especially when they nest.
