Apple Dump Cake
Here is a little something I found in the daily paper. The recipe sounded too good to be true. It sounded way to easy, so of course I had to try it. This is a fun one. You can throw this together with the kids or impress guests or that someone special in your life. It is Easy Easy Easy.
2 21 ounce cans of apple pie filling
1 standard size box of yellow, white or spice cake mix - I have used the yellow and the spiced.
1/2 cup butter - one stick
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Spread the apple filling in an ungreased 9by 13 inch pan
Pour the dry cake mix into a bowl and drizzle with melted butter.
Mix well with a fork, it should be crumbly.
Sprinkle this mixture over the apple filling.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes until lightly browned.
Serve warm. Vanilla ice cream and or whipped cream is good with this.
Elizabeth, I LOVE this recipe, and have made it many times in the past...it is yummy, especially with ice cream, and OH SO easy! I have used the white cake mix, and it is great. Thanks for reminding me about this...it has been a while. But autumn is on its way, and apples, apple pies, tarts, and dump cake, (or any cake for that matter!) taste awfully good in the autumn. Also tastes good with walnuts mixed into the crumb topping :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this simple and easy recipe! My family is "apple crazy" and will LOVE this! Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeleteMy dad makes this a lot in the fall.... hmmm, gotta remind him it is fall! Aha!
ReplyDeleteCould you heat up a piece and I'll be right over. I'll bring the tea. :)Bea
