The side of the same building. It has several different styles of handmade bricks. The deep orangey-red is the clay you find all over North Carolina. They were all handmade with wooden forms. I find it to be quite amazing. You can sort of see the growth of the town through the brick. Once again it is being remodeled.
Last Sunday as I meandered down to the beach I stopped in this little mill town outside of Greensboro North Carolina for gas. I took a moment to enjoy the nice weather, blue skies, and decided to explore the Historical section. Lots of renovations being done. Definitely a good sign and good for the local economy. Here is one of the buildings I found quite fascinating. Hope you will also.
I wish I was with you meandering through all these towns and seeing all the wonderful old buildings! Thanks for sharing your photos!

What a serendipitous find, Elizabeth! Those bricks are amazing. Such beautiful texture. Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat town were you in? I work in Greensboro, and I've found that most towns in the south don't respect their past, they tear down old buildings in favor of the latest strip mall, walmart, or grocery store w/huge parking lots.
ReplyDeleteI have been thoroughly enjoying these old buildings you've shot, Elizabeth. There is just something about the texture and substance of them that grab the viewer. I wish I could paint what you are doing in your photos!
ReplyDeleteI was born in Greensboro,NC and I no longer live in NC. I love your meanderings and love to read about where you"ve been and to see the pictures as well! It's like a trip down memory lane for me. Thanks so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad it brought back some memories. I love how a smell or sound, an image can do that.
