I can hardly believe this but sadly it is true. I slipped a week ago Thursday evening in the garage and busted my hip. Shattered it to pieces. I can not express how much it truly hurt. Early Friday off in an ambulance to the hospital. Of course we had a blown water main for two counties and they could not use the operating rooms. I had to wait two days to be operated on. I have been in a definite pain and drug enduced haze.
The past few days things are starting to get back to normal. I am up putting full weight on everything. Physical therapy is hard but I am already seeing the benefits. The pain is being managed. Right now I just want to go home and pretend it didn't happen, but that is not feasible. So I hope all of you are doing well, making lots of art, enjoying the summer, Hopefully I will be able to go home "with help" soon. I miss you all, and my studio.
OH MY! I wish you a speedy recovery! Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you are suffering so much. :-( Get well soon!

Oh my goodness that sounds perfectly awful! And scary! Please listen to your PT's and follow their advice so that you recover and heal 100%...My Mom had double hip replacement surgery 3 years ago but before she did she was virtually crippled, in terrible pain, and couldn't move. The surgery was miraculous for her but you really do have to follow the advice of the medical team around you and don't push yourself to much in the beginning. And before you know it you will be up and around better than before!! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteOh, Elizabeth, how horrible! I am sending you much healing energy and prayers that you'll be home and feeling better soon. ):
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear you're going through all of this. I guess you've hit bottom and things can only get better, day by day. Hang in there!

I think my boobs and the box I was holding saved me from serious injury.
Hope you feel better soon!
I'm so sorry to hear of your dreadful ordeal. Glad things are beginning to get better. I can imagine how much you miss your studio, and miss creating. I had cataract surgery in January and was visually impaired (hell, visually blitzed) for weeks. It was terrible! I hope you're back in the groove, like, SOON! Just be sure you stick with the physical therapy... and religiously! No matter how hard it is, it's the best thing you can do for yourself! My best to you for a speedy and complete recovery. I'll be checking up on you...

ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I am so sorry for your horrible misfortune!! Hoping for a quick recovery for you. I enjoy your blog very much and was stunned to come here tonight and find you with a broken hip. Sending healing thoughts your way. Sue
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh! You are in that kind of pain and still were able to focus on a blog entry that made sense? You are a super woman! Well except for the broken hip part. As awful as it is to be in the hospital, stay as long as it is possible--you will find all the obstacles at home soon enough. I'm doing the CED challenge too. I think your creativity may lead you to new and creative combinations of words while you are under the effects of the pain meds. I know I would be find them if it were me.
ReplyDeletetake things slow and easy and keep doing the physical therapy! Stephanie
Ouch! Hope you get to feeling WORLDS better asap!

So very sorry to hear of your painful accident and need for drugs and recovery. It will change your perspective on how precious the mundane is. Prayers for your continued recovery.
ReplyDelete(((Elizabeth))) I'm so sorry to hear this news. It's so annoying when things like this happen. I was thrown from a horse a few years ago and had a concussion that drove me mad. So inconvenient. I had to walk my horse the rest of the week. I know you will be a trooper for your PT and work hard at it. Take your meds and be a good girl.
ReplyDeleteI read your blog almost every day. I have been wondering where you were. Hope your recover soon so you can be creative on your blog. Thank you for all the wonderful recipes, ideas & all around beautiful art!
