Digital Photograph - Red Roof Barn

Last week as I drove back to North Carolina I had a pity party in my car.  It rained the whole way through Virginia.  As I crossed the North Carolina state line the sun came out and these big rolling clouds blew  by.  I immediately got off the interstate and starting looking for shots.  My camera was more than ready.  This was my first barn encounter in weeks. I thought it represented how I was feeling...still standing after a terrible wind had blown through and changed my reality. Enjoy!

  1. Gosh it looks as if one breath and the whole structure will collapse. You have captured it for eternity now.

  2. I read a saying once that it was ok to sit on our pity pot once in awhile, but to just make sure you flush when you are done. Sounds like you are! Nothing like the great outdoors and a camera to help heal the heart I think!

  3. Yes Elizabeth but you are still standing. You be strong, your dad would want that. That is what I kept telling myself when it happened to me right before Christmas many years ago. Hugs from the west. Sharon

  4. oh, Elizabeth!!! The loss of your father was so wrenching for you. ..i know it is still so painful..the grieving has just begun. Your "need" to take photos does show that your heart is healing...and what a lovely way to tell your dad how much he means to you..by doing the things that bring you happiness. After all, like all fathers, seeing you happy was a great joy to him...he was probably looking down on you with such a big smile and thinking ..that's my girl!!!
Know that I think of you often..I lost my dad the day after Christmas 7 years ago...it's NEVER easy to loose a parent, no time is good, but at the holidays it really sucks! I wish you strength to get through this, joy in your heart..and happy memories that do not bring tears of sadness when you remember.

  5. I look at this beautiful picture and the words that come to my mind: Wisdom, strength, mystery, still there...still standing...still able...still sharing...

  6. You are in my thoughts today. "Daddy" is the first man that little girls ever love. It's so hard to say goodby. My father left us in 2002. I miss him so much. Take care of yourself.

  8. Well, you KNOW how much I love Barn Shots. This one is gorgeous and there it is, not in it's glory but still to be remembered. I see from reading the comments that you have had a recent loss. I'm so sorry for you. It always hurts to lose those that we love. My heart goes out to you. :)Bea
