More Week Three Journal Pages

Here are a few more pages I have done step two - collage on - for my Dina Wakley class. I think you will see a theme of birds, wings, eggs, flowers, and women and children in them. That has pretty much my life the past few weeks.


After deciding to just collage all the pages before putting text on them - I am avoiding here - things have gone pretty fast. I have the start of 20 pages and the cover. Not bad. This is King Crow. He is definitely giving the hawks in my backyard a bad time.


She is my mystical garden princess. Watching over all things wild.


I thought I would use some of my flower freebies here. They have been so much fun to work with. Plus, I have been making my own paper gardens with them.


This suited my mood for the day. The pen heads are from Tim Holtz's paper that he put out a while ago. I do not know if it is in the stores anymore.


This is my last page of the journal. She is one of my favorite Botticelli images. He must have really loved women. The attention to detail in his work is amazing.

So these are the last of the collage part of my new Art Journal. Today I start the text. Then on to adding more layers! This should be a fun journaling week.

More Journal Pages - Week Two - Collage

The little boy is from one of my freebies. He just looked like he needed a ride!

She is so beautiful! I bet she had red hair to go along with those blue eyes. Love the hand warmers.

These girls look like they could really let loose in the right situation. I can see that little one on the left causing some real mischief.

I used mica over the photo image here. I decided to sew it on with my machine. I have no idea what I will do with this page.

This is quite the family, all decked out in their Sunday best. I love the little girl's hat.


This is the second round of pages. I am finding I can do around five before I need to get up and do something else. It has been fun just pulling random images and working on these pages. Not my usual journal thing[I usually just work on a page or two at a time], but it is definitely something I will do again.

More Journal Pages - first couple rounds for the smaller journals

More journal pages for my Remains of the Day class with Mary Ann Moss. These are the pages for my smaller 6 inch by 6 inch. I made three of these and decided to make 20 pages for each. Each signature will have 10 pages and each journal will have two signatures. This means I will need 60 pages total for the three journals.

The stack of pages in the photograph is only 52 pages. I still have a few more to do before I can start round 4 and 5 [ security envelopes and fabric] I am using up tons of scraps and creating small little scraps. I see some inches in my future.

I did try to leave some room to actually write.

More Journal Pages Completed

In the Blissfully Art Journal Yahoo Group one of the prompts was "What have you learned in life?" The first thing I thought of was don't' put all your eggs in one basket. I have learned always to have a contingency plan. Don't rely on others to do what they say they are going to do. Don't put your money in one place, or rely on one thing to happen. Life isn't like that. Most times it is for the best so always have some eggs somewhere else.

The last two years I have been sorting and going through things trying to make my life filled with the things that mean the most to me. It has been a powerful experience. Totally eye opening and empowering.

These two pages reflect my need for something spiritual in my life on a everyday basis. I think we all get so busy with immediate things that we forget to do things that give us solace and strength. I am asking for help and guidance in these pages.
[I did use Alisa Burke's leaf stamp on the purple page. She makes wonderful hand crafted stamps]


This door is from a local church. I love the red against the sandstone. The lovely arch. I worked for an hour or so with this digitally and finally realized it was not to be that day. I went ahead and printed off what I had done. Always trying to use my own photos in my journal I realized that it should be here in my journal. Isn't that the way it is sometimes. We work so hard to make something work then realize along the solution...
