An Afternoon Drive...

A country road here in North Carolina. The open road holds so much promise. A surprise around every turn. Today I was able to get out and leave the boxes and packing behind and just enjoy the day. I feel like most of the summer and fall I have missed. The beach is not the best place to enjoy the fall colors, so a little road trip was needed.

I found this tree down a dead end road. I loved the contrast of the gold against the blue sky. It had rained a few minutes before and you can see the clouds moving away as the sun comes out. It was a beautiful fall day.

Hidden up a bank an old Tobacco Barn. These sat on the edge of the fields. Large "sticks" fit into notches along the walls all the way up the barn. The tobacco plants were/are attached to the sticks and set in the notches to dry or cure. This was quite a dirty job. Everyone - children included joined in to get the crop in. I see these barns and they represent so much of the history of North Carolina.

I thought I would include this shot. The contrast of the green and red was stunning. Hope you enjoyed a taste of the day.

What lovely Fallness, thanks for the photos. Elizabeth, I don't get over here so much anymore but found myself with a lil free time tonight...just got caught up on your "adventures". What a way to get Hip, ouch. So glad you are mended and back to it. And your house sale....well, I would worry about you, but there isn't much at all you cannot do or get done, Elizabeth, so I am confident you will look back on your Transient Time and see it as the exciting vacay I'm sure it will turn out to be. You go, Girl! xoxo

You still have some fall color around, that's so nice. The high winds here last week or so took down everything but the Oak leaves.
I hope the move goes smoothly for you. That's a lot of stress, take care of yourself. :)Be

Our trees are almost bare. One good rainstorm and they'll be finished for the year. Love your shots, and am so happy to see you wandering about with your camera. I've missed your photos. I'm intrigued by the barn and am grateful for your explanation. Hugs, Terri xoxo
