Theme Thursday Challenge - Bookmarks

This week the Theme Thursday challenge is bookmarks. Make a bookmark. It can be cut and glued, digital, whatever you feel like. Seeing as I haven't been able to participate the past couple of weeks I decided to a make two. So, here they are. I could have kept going, they are always so much fun to make and use. I often leave one in the restroom of the local library for someone to find.

Theme Thursday - Pattern Paper

This week for Theme Thursday's Challenge we were to use already pattern paper in our challenge. I have always liked the paper I used. So French feeling. Elegant. So I decided to do a portrait thing with it. Here is a beautiful young girl, maybe on graduation day or her confirmation day posing for her picture. Beauty is her name...

Theme Thursday Challenge - Favorite Colors

This week for the Theme Thursday Challenge we were to use our favorite color[s] in a piece of art work. Now that is a hard one because I have rarely found a color I didn't like. I can't wear all the colors but I enjoy painting with them or seeing them out in the universe. My favorites change according to time of day, emotions, and whatever my current "thing" is.

One constant is the blue family. Blue makes everything look good. The other is red. Everyone looks good in red. All the different variations are just fun. Orange is a favorite highlight color. I find I use more and more of it. Tonight I felt like the blue family. I love the turquoise blue. I collect turquoise colored glass. It just looks so beautiful with the sun steaming through it. I guess that would be my inspiration.

I chose an image of Maud Fealy and digitally manipulated a rather plain background I slapped together with a few colors of paint and scanned. I tried to surround her with all the rich reds and pinks and then added a little purple to top it off. These are the colors I am feeling today.

Theme Thursday Challenge - Faces

This is my entry for Theme Thursday Challenge this week. The theme is faces. We are to make an ATC, a 4 by 4 or anything we want just as long as it has a face on it. Well, that was a challenge. Way too many choices for me in that department. I have been playing with photo shop using one photo with lots of the drawing, layers, filters, etc. Also, making things using the grid feature.

I am fascinated with faces. They can tell us so much about a person. Expressions always changing. I decided to make a Warhol type thing using this young girl. Like most people, I gave her several different faces, with several different backgrounds, like the different settings we have in our lives. I have included the original photo at the bottom of this post for your personal use. I thought you might like to play around with her. She was obviously well taken care of and loved by her family. All children should be so lucky.

Original Image - Isn't she just the sweetest? and that big old chain and locket... don't forget to right click to get the larger version of her.

Theme Thursday Challenge - ATC with a Bird

This is my entry for Theme Thursday Challenge this week. We are to make and ATC using a bird as the main image or in the background. I decided to use the bird as the main image. I had this ATC sitting on my work table with a "Citrol Solve National Geographic" background I had made weeks ago. [You apply Citrol Solve cleaner in the concentrate form onto the National Geographic magazine pages. Let sit for a half hour or so, then tear the magazine apart and let the pages dry. It moves the ink around on the page and makes cool backgrounds. You can find the citrol solve at healthfood stores in their cleaning department area.] Any hoo here is my bird, nestler is anyone who "makes a nest."

Theme Thursday - Wings

This week for Theme Thursday the theme is "Wings." We are to make anything we want as long as it has wings. I decided to stick to the Halloween/Haunted House thing as today is the first day of October. The house is from a slew of deserted and old houses in Detroit. The script is from the Graphics Fairy.

I am thinking this witch is reading up on her spells. Her pet owl is just waiting for her signal, and they are both wishing someone would come and fill their house with love and tenderness. Even a small remodel would work.

Theme Thursday - Script - Night

This morning when I checked the Theme Thursday theme - script, handwriting - I knew exactly what I was going to do. The Graphics Fairy had this beautiful piece about the night and fairies. The writing was just lovely. I knew the woman with the long beads I wanted to use and I grabbed the bat wings from my stash - The Graphics Fairy has some awesome bats , too. The Gothic arch is a photo I took in England several years ago. So, here you go.

I am thinking she is a girl who longs for the night so she can be the person her inner soul is telling her she is. I think we all need a time and place in our life to let those feelings out. I think Halloween gives us the opportunity to dress up and play with those feelings. Anything that includes chocolate has got to be okay.

Theme Thursday - Quote - Digital Collage

I worked on some challenges yesterday and came up with this for the Theme Thursday's Challenge. This week it is Quotes. We are to make a piece of art and use a quote on it. I went to their site after we had had a huge discussion at dinner about quotes, writers, literature, etc. Dinner was filled with everyone's favorites, the inane, and the life's lessons. I decided to go with Shakespeare. He had such a way with words. The house is from the mountains, the girls are cabinet cards, the negative is just an old negative scanned and resized.

Theme Thursday - Orange

Orange Zetti inchie

Beautiful Orange ATC

4 by 4 Orange Artistic Whim

The challenge for Theme Thursday was to do something - anything - in orange. Lately I have been doing a lot of digitals for these challenges and this one was to get messy with paint and ink. It was rainy and stormy so I jumped right in on this one. It has been awhile since I have played in my studio. I ended up making several pieces. I love orange.

Theme Thursday - Stripes - ATC

I have finally gotten around to Theme Thursday's Challenge. This past week it was to make an ATC and the week before it was Stripes. I decided to just combine both themes and go for it. I googled stripes - big mistake. There are a lot of striped things out there. I got sidetracked for a few hours looking at stripes. I decided on the cross walk and this adorable girl all dressed in stripes. With a bit of manipulation I was able to get this dear girl surrounded by stripes. She has a bit of an attitude - hurray lets go do something fun - shop for more stripes!

Theme Thursday - Pink Pirates

Theme Thursday is having a "pink and brown" challenge. I found these lovely young sailors and decided their pink and brown striped suits fit the bill. I have spent a lot of time at the beach lately so I guess I have beach on the brain.

Theme Thursday - Red and Black

This is my entry for Theme Thursday. The theme this week was red and black. I opted for doing a digital in the early morning while it is still cool out. My studio is about 90 degrees right now - unbearable. The background is one of my photographs with a letter overlay. The Mona Lisa stamp is from Da Vinci as are the numbers. The crow is my photograph and the lovely girls are from my CDV collection.
